Overview & System Architecture

The Oculaire Collection is a system of hand-blown globe light fixtures developed in collaboration with glass artists Sam and Blaine Spees of Asheville, North Carolina. Each fixture—whether pendant, chandelier, or sconce—begins with a precision-blown glass sphere paired with hand-machined brass hardware fabricated and finished in our Nashville workshop.

The full family includes a single pendant, a double pendant, a three-globe chandelier, a two-globe wall sconce, and a single wall sconce. All fixture types can be customized for size to meet project-specific requirements.

Off-Hand Techniques & Natural Variation

Every globe is individually formed using traditional off-hand glassblowing techniques. This process yields controlled variation in wall thickness, surface texture, and internal refraction—qualities that influence both light output and optical behavior.

These characteristics give each glass light fixture a subtle uniqueness impossible to reproduce through mold-blown production. Designers specifying Oculaire across multiple rooms will notice consistent geometry with natural variation, ideal for projects valuing authenticity without sacrificing professional uniformity.

Why Halogen Matters

All Oculaire fixtures are engineered around halogen lamps rather than LED modules. Halogen provides superior color rendering, cleaner dimming, and a warm output that interacts predictably with transparent and colored glass.
