Oculaire
Hand-blown glass globes on hand-finished brass, made in collaboration with glass artists Sam and Blaine Spees of Asheville. Each globe carries a sculpted lens that bends the light and throws it across the room — no two exactly alike. Pendants, a chandelier, and sconces, every one built to suit your space.
The Fixtures
Sec. 01 — The fixturesOne family of globe fixtures — a single pendant up to a three-globe chandelier. Choose one glass color per fixture or mix and match across the globes, in any of our hand-applied brass finishes. Every piece is highly customizable, built to suit your space and dimensions.
The Glass
Sec. 02 — Handblown samplesTen globe colors, each blown by hand and a little different from the next. Five run transparent and glow with the bulb; five are opaque and hold their color lit or dark. Mix and match them across a fixture, or order the ones you're weighing as samples ($30 each) and set them in the room before you commit.
Each sample is a disc of the actual production glass — color and clarity shift slightly from piece to piece, which is the nature of blowing glass by hand. Samples ship from Nashville.
About the Collection
Sec. 03 — How it's madeOculaire is a family of hand-blown globe fixtures developed with glass artists Sam and Blaine Spees of Asheville, North Carolina. Every fixture begins with a blown glass sphere and pairs it with brass hardware machined and finished in our Nashville workshop — a single pendant, a double pendant, a three-globe chandelier, a two-globe sconce, and a single sconce — each one highly customizable, built to suit your space and dimensions.
The lens
Each globe is formed with a sculpted glass lens that bends and refracts the light, casting it across the room rather than holding it inside the shade. The effect is alive and a little unpredictable — fitting, since oculaire is the French word for the lens of an eyepiece.
Off-hand glass
Each globe is blown off-hand — shaped at the furnace without a mold — which leaves a controlled variation in wall thickness and surface from one to the next. Specify Oculaire across several rooms and you'll get consistent geometry with the natural variation that only comes from glass made by hand.
Halogen, or LED
The fixtures are tuned for halogen — it renders color cleanly, dims without stepping, and reads warm through transparent and colored glass. When a project calls for LED instead, we'll ship them that way; just tell us the spec.
Good to Know
Sec. 04 — QuestionsWhat's the lead time?+
Most orders ship within six to eight weeks. Sizing a globe up or down for a project runs a little longer, and we'll quote the modified timeline honestly up front.
Can I get it faster?+
A limited number of priority production slots are available for an additional 10%. Choose it at checkout or ask us to add it to a quote.
Are the fixtures UL listed?+
Yes — the Oculaire collection is UL listed for dry locations in North America.
Can I see the glass before I order?+
Yes. We sell handblown glass samples at $30 each, plus metal finish samples and complete fixture samples. Order the colors you're weighing above, or send us a message.
Can the fixtures be customized?+
This is a highly customizable collection, built to suit your space and dimensions. Choose one glass color per fixture or mix and match the globes, in any of our hand-applied brass finishes. We modify fixtures already in the line rather than building from a sketch — tell us the room and we'll tell you what's possible.
Do you accept returns?+
Because every piece is made to order, we don't accept returns or exchanges — so grab a glass sample first if you're on the fence about a color.
